James G. Orie has served as F.N.B. Corporation’s Chief Legal Officer since 2004 and became the Company’s Corporate Secretary in 2015. Orie manages F.N.B.’s in-house Legal Department and has primary oversight of the Company’s and its affiliates’ matters involving board governance, fiduciary, legal risk management processes, acquisition transactions, SEC reporting and disclosure and regulatory and legal compliance. He brings more than 30 years of legal and bank regulatory experience to the role.
Before joining F.N.B.’s Legal Department in 1996, Orie held roles as counsel with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, as well as Chief Counsel for the Office of Thrift Supervision’s Pittsburgh office and lead counsel for a Pittsburgh-based law firm’s corporate, business and banking practice.
Orie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. He earned his Juris Doctorate at Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh.
Orie has served in leadership capacities with the bank General Counsel working groups and committees at the Pennsylvania Bankers Association and the American Bankers Association. In addition, he has served on various non-profit boards and provides pro bono assistance for charitable and education organizations whose missions are focused on at-risk and economically and educationally disadvantaged youths. Orie’s most recent non-profit board service was with Pittsburgh-based Ozanam Inc., which is dedicated to providing educational, music, cultural, sports and mentoring opportunities for minority and economically disadvantaged youth.
