Another way FNB encourages and promotes diversity is through our Women in Business Council, which is an internal group designed to identify and promote women-owned and managed businesses in our footprint. The Council provides educational and business support to empower women as they navigate today’s business landscape. As part of its effort to increase its access to law firms offering meaningful leadership opportunities for their partners and associates, FNB’s Legal Department was a participant in the 2018 Diversity Lab Conference which, in part, promotes the use of law firms that provide significant leadership roles for women, minorities and LGBTQ individuals under the “Mansfield Rule” criteria (for more information see Diversity Lab press release at: https://www.diversitylab.com/pilot- projects/mansfield-rule-certified-firms-2018/). Learning and Growth Opportunities To ensure that our employees have the necessary tools and resources to be successful, FNB provides ongoing online and in-person training and development designed to promote professional growth. In addition to the programs noted in this report, many departments also offer training to develop the specific skills needed for each employee’s individual role. Examples include sales training, technology courses and programs to help enhance knowledge of our credit culture. • FNB Foundations. This multiday in-person course is designed for retail managers to help introduce and reinforce FNB’s culture, including our expectations for teamwork and collaboration. These courses were created to bring our Company’s core values to life in our branches, enhance technology understanding and skills, reinforce product knowledge and provide opportunities to network with FNB executives and department leaders. • Corporate training and development programs. FNB’s credit training curriculum enhances an employee’s understanding of our Company’s risk tolerance so we can fulfill our mission and operate profitably. Programs including leadership courses, presentation skills and applying personal communication and work styles, are aimed at teaching employees how to be more effective in determining the best solutions for customers. • Credit development programs for recent college graduates. Recent college graduates can take part in a hands-on immersive banking experience to develop a strong credit foundation and understanding of FNB’s corporate culture. • Internship programs for current college students. Our experiential internship program provides college students with challenging opportunities that could lead to future careers at FNB. • FNB Learning Center programs. From client-facing roles with our external customers to administrative and support roles, we ensure that our employees have the right technical and regulatory training to do their jobs effectively and with the highest standards. • Educational assistance programs. Educational and financial assistance is available to both full-time and part- time employees, including their spouses and children, who want to continue their formal education. Our programs such as Penn State University’s World Campus program are designed to make education affordable and accessible. • New hire orientation program. Provided on an employee’s first day of employment, this training introduces employees to FNB’s culture. The virtual course provides a tour of where to locate policies and processes, in addition to more technical training. Other Benefits FNB continually evaluates and benchmarks our benefits programs to ensure that our packages enrich our employee's personal and professional success. In 2018, we introduced a comprehensive Benefits Directory as a resource of our robust programs including health and wellness, work/life balance, professional development, incentive opportunities and retirement savings. A healthy, active, engaged workforce helps us compete more effectively and results in better performance for our customers and shareholders. Our comprehensive medical insurance options are both high quality and affordable. FNB also has aligned the cost of health coverage with compensation through progressive premiums to provide more affordable coverage for employees on the lower range of our pay scale. FNB’s pay practices are designed to make our compensation plans competitive. In early 2018, FNB made a one-time 401(k) contribution, totaling $1 million, to benefit our lower- income employees. Also in 2018, we announced our intent to accelerate our existing plan to raise the minimum hourly wage for our employees to $15.00 by the end of 2019. This pay increase will have a particularly meaningful impact for our tellers, customer service representatives, operations employees and other employees. FNB has embraced employee-friendly policies, which include competitive paid time off, where time-off benefits are designed to help our employees maintain a meaningful work/life balance. Whether our employees are welcoming a new child or caring for existing family members, FNB is committed to providing the support they need. Our benefits programs, including parental leave benefits, adoption assistance and child care, are tailored to ensure that our employees have the financial assistance and time away from work to care for their new family members. Another important component of our employee benefits program is our 401(k) plan that provides a 100% match for every dollar our employees contribute, up to 6% of their compensation. In 2018, our employees collectively received more than $13.5 million in matching funds contributed by FNB. Employee Satisfaction Because of the critical role that each of our employees play in creating and maintaining a top workplace at FNB, we encourage them to take ownership in shaping the future of our organization by sharing their thoughts and insights through a biannual formal Employee Engagement Survey, conducted by an independent provider. This survey gives all employees the opportunity to provide feedback about the Company, responding to a variety of questions that will guide how FNB continues to improve the work environment. Nearly 4,000 employees participated in our most recent survey in 2017. This represented 85% of the total employment base. The FNB Overall Employee Engagement score was categorized as outstanding by the survey provider. Survey results are communicated and used to develop action plans to address any areas of opportunity. We are very proud that First National Bank has been recognized with 22 top workplace awards throughout our footprint, including eight consecutive years in Pittsburgh, based on employee feedback provided by an independent workplace survey. Our employees’ responses to the top workplace surveys have a tremendous impact on how we move forward as a Company, allowing us to deliver positive change not only for our employees, but the communities and customers we help every day. From talent recruitment to improving employee satisfaction and engagement, the FNB leadership team takes the results of these surveys very seriously. Our employees are our greatest asset, and we want to ensure their insight and opinions are heard. 17 16 Women in Business Council
