Our Inclusive Workplace

Building an environment where all employees learn, grow and prosper.

A Diverse, Engaged Workforce

Handshaking workers

Employees who represent different cultures, ethnicities, genders and backgrounds contribute to a vibrant environment that fosters creativity, innovation and distinct perspectives, which are the foundation of our overall success. That’s why we actively work to ensure a diverse workplace with continued opportunities for professional development and advancement that in turn attract, retain and reward valued, dedicated team members.

Fostering Inclusion

Our inclusive culture is focused on empowering values designed to nurture healthy discussions, understanding of other perspectives, and open mindedness, with the objective of promoting a high level of work satisfaction.

FNB’s focus on diversity and inclusion (D&I) begins at the top, with goals and measurable elements incorporated into our strategic plan. Our manager of D&I works closely with the broader leadership team to further refine our D&I strategy, ensuring it is culturally effective, aligned with our various stakeholders, and has the resources to create impactful initiatives throughout our Company and communities.

A cornerstone of our efforts is the FNB Diversity Council, which drives inclusivity in our worker satisfaction, business practices, customer service and communities. The Council — which consists of team members from a cross-section of the Company who represent various roles, perspectives, backgrounds and experience levels — aims to:

  • Promote an inclusive culture that attracts, retains and develops the best talent to create a diverse, collegial and highly productive workforce reflecting the customers and communities we serve.
  • Cultivate a rewarding experience where all employees are respected, heard and know they have an opportunity to excel within the Company, which translates to positive financial results, a differentiated customer experience and sustainable value for our customers, shareholders and communities.

We also believe that education is key to fostering empathy and understanding. Employees are encouraged to engage in active dialogue and to learn from each other about issues pertaining to diversity. These efforts are supplemented with formal development activities, including Inclusive and Positive Workplace training.

Attracting and Retaining Diverse Talent

Today, more than half of FNB’s executives, senior officials and managers are female, minority or both, and nearly a third of our Board of Directors are diverse. We remain focused on enhancing and driving greater diversity and inclusion in our workforce and have been recognized for our commitment. Our success in attracting and retaining diverse talent comes through multiple programs and strategies, which include:

  • Working closely with dozens of affinity and diversity organizations, colleges and universities, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities, to recruit and place diverse candidates.
  • Ensuring each member of our talent acquisition team receives certification as an AIRS® Certified Diversity and Inclusion Recruiter (CDR).
  • Leveraging our leadership development and mentoring program to emphasize career advancement opportunities for diverse employees.
  • Providing tuition reimbursement for those employees who desire to advance career their opportunities through education and training.
  • Raising our minimum hourly wage to $15, with particular impact for employees who are in rural or low- to moderate- income communities.
